Around The Area
Cycling

Where else can you combine such great scenery with quiet country lanes and smooth A roads? Cycle touring in the Welsh borders....plenty for the hill climbers and flat cyclist. No better place in Britain to cyle. Hay on Wye is a good place to hire if need be.
Canoeing
Sitting right on the River Wye, Moccas Court makes the ideal staging post...albeit a luxurious one. We specialise in taking canoeists who like their creature comforts. There are canoe hire firms in Hay on Wye to chose from as well as Glasbury on Wye
Hill and river side walking

The Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons are all unspoilt areas of wild hill and mountain. And then there's the 'Daddy of them all', Pen-Y-Fan, only a short drive away; always guaranteed to walk off last night's dinner.
The Usk and Wye river footpaths make for riverside walks of a less challenging nature. Here, on the Welsh borders, we really are spoilt for choice.
Castles, ancient Churches and Museums

Welshpool Castle, Goodrich Castle, Raglan Castle are all nearby, and many obscure and fascinating ruins as well.
You can also visit the ancient churches in this area, perhaps starting with our own Norman church at Moccas and then maybe winding down the Golden valley to Abbey Dore.
For museums, we have Hereford's Mappa Mundi Museum close by. At Brecon we have the Museum of the Royal Welsh Borderers.
Flying

Moccas Court plays host to a small bevvy of flying machines, both complete and under construction. Please enquire about flying in, whether by light aircraft or helicopter. (strictly prior permission).
The nearest General Aviation airfied is Shobdon.
Moccas Fishery

The well known Moccas Fishery is now managed by the local Red Lion hotel. Extensive coarse and Salmon fishing can be arranged through them. However, Moccas Court has retained 1/2 mile of fishing that has been a closely guarded secret. This water has some rewarding stretches.
We prefer to keep the waters 'gently' fished so as not to overly disturb wild stocks. However, we are glad to let guests fish when they ask.
